Leadership Development Workshop (LDW)

Overview

Please join us as we gather to listen to leaders in American Mensa
talk about the issues facing Region 1 and discover all of the ways
in which you can help to make Mensa better through your involvement.

The LDW is not just for current leaders, but also for our future leaders.
Registration is free and includes some meals and hospitality.

The room rate for the workshop is $84.95 (plus tax) per night
for a standard king or double room, 1- 4 persons. The Comfort Inn
has also agreed to honor that same room rate for an additional day
on either side of the LDW (i.e., Thursday, October 1 and Sunday, October 4)
subject to availability. The rate is guaranteed until September 18th.

Schedule

The weekend will begin with a Friday night reception, and an 
introductory panel discussion with a Q&A session.
Sessions are planned for the morning and afternoon on Saturday,
including breaks for lunch and refreshments.

A Saturday night pizza party is scheduled where participants can
continue to meet with other Ms, or they may choose to try one of the
fine area restaurants. All who register for the LDW are invited to the
Comfort Inn's Continental Breakfast Saturday and Sunday.

Guests are invited to workout in the fitness center or take a swim in
the indoor pool and hot tub. Free ample, well-lit parking is available
for guests.

Workshops will also be held Sunday morning.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Is it acceptable to bring a family member,
even if they are not currently a member?
Yes, we welcome family members, spouses, etc.
Mensa is so often a family affair. There is a fee for hospitality
for non-Ms: $30/each if they are staying at the Comfort Inn,
and $45/each otherwise. Please send this in advance to our Registrar Lori Norris.
In place of the M number on the registration form,
put "Family of (M attending)".

Can non-Ms at the LDW attend the sessions as well?
Yes, on a space available basis.
Priority for seating will go to Ms, but at this time we
don't anticipate the meeting rooms filling to capacity.

Is there a hotel shuttle?
No, there is not a courtesy Shuttle from the Airport.  However, if you contact
Andrew Heffernan (518-788-0019) in advance (more than 7 days) then we can
work with you to find transportation from another M.

How do I get to the Comfort Inn?
By car: Take I-87 to Exit 23.
At the light, turn Right onto Route 9W.
Go 0.7 miles, and the hotel is on the Right on top of a hill.

By air: Our airport is Albany International.

By train: Amtrak serves the area with service to the Rensselaer Station (ALB) and Schenectady (SCN)
No shuttle is provided to the hotel, but if you contact Andrew Heffernan in advance peer transportation might be feasibly arranged.
